Born in Rustenburg, South Africa, and raised in Canada, Lindi Nolte is a South African-Canadian spoken word poet, TEDx speaker, and creative writing educator whose work explores the intersections of identity, memory, ecology, and love. Lindi immigrated to Canada at a young age, bringing with her a reverence for storytelling and the rhythms of the land — themes that pulse through every line she writes and speaks. She uses poetry as a bridge, from self to other, and from heart to stage. Lindi has been active in Vancouver’s slam poetry and spoken word community since 2014.

She was first seduced by spoken word at Café Deux Soleil and then went on to earn the title of Vancouver Grand Slam Champion in 2018. Lindi performing "I Am"

Teaching + Facilitation

With a BA in English (University of Pretoria) and BEd (UBC), Lindi teaches high school English in the Surrey and Vancouver School Districts, integrating spoken word into her teaching to inspire student voices.

Lindi facilitates workshops across Canada and has a particular gift for guiding others through the creative process - helping writers uncover their strengths, embrace vulnerability, and speak their truths. Her workshops are spaces of deep listening, where vulnerability becomes a doorway to transformation.

"Lindi is truly the most loving, supportive, and thoughtful facilitator: she skillfully gathers a group of strangers yearning to express what they've been carrying around, and transforms them into a group of writers that have the strength to share their carefully narrated intimate experiences and thoughts with each other. Lindi will create the safe environment necessary to dive deep into your own buried conscience, and guide your thoughts to shape meaning from it through your own creative voice. I came in curious, and left inspired. Thank you, Lindi, for all that you do and how you do it!"

Artistic Philosophy

Lindi believes vulnerability is a bridge — not just to art, but to connection, healing, and change. Her work lives at the intersection of language, movement, and soul, inviting others to explore poetry as a way of remembering what it means to feel, to listen, and to belong.
